Mission trip to Kg Ontolob!

I have been to many mission trips but last weekend's was indeed a life-changing trip. It was a short trip but the impact was huge. The usual mission trip "operation" for me was to bring food....old clothings...maybe donate some money....speak to the kampung folks....play with kids and then go home. "Touch and Go" style! At the end of this pariticular mission trip, it hit me that all my previous so called "mission trips" were actually just a mere "VISITATION". Ps Lam...the gang leader changed and inspired me! Ps Lam actually pastored the kampung. He went back toinspect their economy projects which Ps Lam had helped to start off, by providing support in finances and resourses. Ps Lam wanted to change the Kampung and not just merely visiting them. He wanted to help the Kampung improve their standard of living and fuiture! That's the kind of mission trip I want to go!! Lantern Carnival @ Seri Kepayan

D'Gap Baptist organized yet another wonderful Lantern Carnival. Hundreds of people from Taman Seri Kepayan participated in this year carnival. The community hall area was "turned into" mini China Town and people was just flooding into the food , lantern making and calligraphy competition booth. Drinks, snacks, and the children favourite..pop corns and candy floss were given out for free!! D'Anchors, the children ministry of D'Gap, performed on the stage but the highlight for the night was a special apperance by Kelvin Soh from Singapore. Kelvin spent most of his life in prison as a drug addict and his life changed after committed himself to the Lordship of Jesus. He is now a well-known gospel singer, song writer and an evangelist in Singapore. One 2 3 smile! (many more pictures in my facebook)

VINCENT&JAMMIE WEDDING

It was a wedding I looked forward to eagerly. I had known Jammie and Vincent since 20 years ago!!! Am I really that old?? I was pumped up for their big day. In fact I woke up at 3am...too excited! I recognized that Jammie and Vincent have something really special going. It is not just the love they share, it is the love that their family, friends....heng dai and chi mui, and church share with them that made the day so special and memorable. Jammie and Vincent thank you so much for having me at your wedding. Your family and friends are just fantastic too. Here are the highlights and I'll let the pictures do the talking. Ps Guna and AGM

Ps Guna and his AGM (Agape Guys' Ministry) team was in town to conduct a men's meeting and also to speak in Churches. Ps Guna asked me many questions during his visit.....eg: Where to eat?? Any pahit durian?? How to go back...We are lost?? Any sweet sweet thing to eat??? Nicekah?? Can book now?? Can order one more??? and etc! But at the end of the leaders' meeting, he asked a "profound" question that made me ponder and think. He asked......"What is the one take-home message from all these meetings?" So deep. After pondering for a while...I must say that I am excited with the idea of self-leadership. I must start leading myself especially in my daily walk with God. If I cannot lead myself to read Bible...to be disciplined...to be on time......then what kind of leader I am to others and even to my kids. I cannot blame church leaders for not leading me. They can encourage me , motivate me but it is still up to ME. SELF LEADERSHIP

TEAMBUILDING @ KK ADVENTURE

About 30 BCCM Rainfield and D'Gap Baptist leaders participated in one day team building program in KK Adventure Park. Why team building... Building a good team is key to the success of any enterprise. Jesus chose twelve unique individuals to build His world-changing enterprise. He intentionally chose several who had similar backgrounds Peter, James, and John were fisherman. Matthew and Simon the Zealot came from opposing political views. Matthew came from an industry considered corrupted he was a tax collector. It is clear Jesus chose those who had a skill set first, then changed the character of the individual. He mentored each one. A good team needs to have team members with different viewpoints as well as those who are specialists in a particular area. It is noteworthy that Jesus chose someone expertise in handling money. Taking a team of twelve around the country required money and the ability to manage it. I'm sure Jesus spent a great deal of time with Matthew mentoring him on the proper use of money. He had to reshape his thinking about money. Once the team was formed Jesus spent time molding His team into a cohesive unit to operate in unity. He corrected them when correction was needed. He taught them what it meant to love one another. He washed their feet. He taught and modeled servant leadership. Before you put a team together sit down and make a list of the skills you want represented on your team. Then recruit and invest spiritually into your team. Verena being "baptised"

Visiting my Mom hometown on National Day

Welcome to Kudat!!! We visited Kudat, my mom's hometown, during the Malaysia National Day holiday. Kudat is still my favourite place, as I have stayed there during my "good old kiddy days"! I have also discovered that one can watch sunrise and sunset at the horizon in Kudat - on the same day!!! Amazing....

Welcome to KUDAT!! It is only 2.5 hours drive from KK
Sunset at Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, aka The Tip of Borneo

Beautiful hand-made craft by the Rungus people, the indigenous people of Kudat

Sunrise @ Kudat - and it is on the sea horizon! Amazing!

Sunrise from the hotel lobby

Another magnificent sunset view at The Tip of Borneo and it is National Day!!

My favourite "fruit" -BBQ corn

Honey .....honey...honey...NOT YOU!!!

Rungus craft - visited a REAL Rungus Longhouse

Kudat is well known for her coconuts
